NC History Museum

Reilly did not have school Wednesday of this week.  She has been taking her finals for her first semester courses. She has wanted to go to the Russian porcelain and religious icon exhibit currently being displayed in Raleigh since we saw a sign for it when the grandparents were here in November. Since she had the day off, we packed up Miles and headed to Raleigh.

The exhibit had some beautiful pieces. We learned quite a bit about Russian royalty, politics, and history. We are a museum going people. It was kind of nice to go to a museum without the 6 and 11 year old boys. They like museums too, but they do not like to linger as long as I do.

Reilly liked the porcelain figurines crafted to represent the various populaces that were included in the Russian empire during the reign of someone or other...maybe Catherine the great? This was her favorite because he looks like a lawn gnome. He represents Lapland. (Yeah, I'd never heard of it either.)

We had a fun filled day together. It was nice to have some one-on-one time with the eldest!
