Saturday was a special day! We went to the Star City Parade. Well, first we got up early so we could see Spiderman for free at the Grand Theatre. Then we headed outside for the Star City Parade. There were giant balloons, just like Macy's (maybe a little smaller). There were several marching bands, clowns, horses and Santa brought up the rear. The kids all complained of cold toes and said they had to use the restroom, twice, so they could go inside and warm up. All except for Luke who would not wear a hat, gloves, or a coat. Crazy two-year-old.
Next, we headed to Omaha to see the gingerbread display at the Mormon Trail Center. The kids did a mini scavenger hunt among the displays and luckily non of my children were standing near the large gingerbread treasure chest that fell apart while we were there. (The two older women standing nearest to the display swore it was already cracked. I guess I'll believe them.) Luke stayed inside the wooden gingerbread house the entire time we were at the visitor's center, which was probably a good thing. The few times he did come out he seemed to be a little too fascinated with all the candy on the gingerbread creations.
It was bitter cold Sunday morning, but not as cold as it was when we left church and the snow was falling. It snowed quite a bit and there is more to come. The snow makes Reilly very nervous. She was worried that I couldn't see well enough driving home, she was sure they would have to cancel school today (no such luck), and she was mumbling something about hoping no one would throw a snowball at her during recess when I dropped her off at school this morning (sounds like she is asking for it).
