Reilly had a school concert while Grandma Black was in town. In fact, Grandma chauffeured us to the event, seeing as how she already knew the way to the school by that point in her stay. Ken and Aidan had to miss the event, but the rest of us enjoyed ourselves. We listened to the seventh and eight grade orchestras and the 8th grade morning choir before listening to Reilly's group, the D'Lux Singers. All of the groups were fantastic.
Reilly's favorite song to perform was "Who Put the Bomp." (Who was that man? I'd like to shake his hand...) That is a pretty good song. Her group did choreography and everything.
Kadie's concert was on December 18th. No Grandparents were in town to witness the event. (Don't feel guilty or anything.) Actually, Ken couldn't make it to this event either. Just me and four kids, two of which did not want to be there. This is how it went:
Kadie had to be at the school 30 minutes before the start of the concert. It does not make sense to travel all the way home and back to the school, so we stayed. Aidan was done being at the concert 20 minutes before it started. Luke just wanted to crawl all over me. (He is kind of heavy now, which makes me uncomfortable.) The concert began with the announcement that the room was too full for all the spectators, so if your child was in the orchestra, which was performing first, you could just up and leave, please, after their performance. (Aidan was instantly restored to good humor.) Kadie's orchestra performed some fun songs. They also performed a song called, "14 Days in Georgia." This song was not fun. It took me back to the "Chicken Pot Pie" fiasco of Reilly's 6th grade concert. I truly felt like we'd spent at least 14 days there myself. Well, I snapped one whole picture of the kids before we were thrown out of the school. (It really was for the best, I think...The getting thrown out, not the one, lone picture.)
