Aidan's Birthday

Aidan and his first birthday cake.

Aidan turned 7! (Holy Cow, he really is that old.) He usually gets to celebrate his birthday at the cabin with all his cousins. This year he said he didn't want to have his birthday at the cabin. (I think he knew he would get to celebrate early). So I whipped up a cake, with M&Ms on top--his favorite, and he opened what presents we had here. Mom and Dad got him some Star Wars Legos, our awesome Cruces neighbors gave him a slip and slide and a transformer, and Grandma and Grandpa Hessing gave him a 2 1/2 ft. long Millennium Falcon. (Guess which gift he liked the best...) We had a hard time getting him to go to bed that night. In the end, he wound up sleeping with the Star Wars Legos, now assembled into some sort of ship AND the huge Millennium Falcon. Unfortunately, Ken and I woke to what we thought must be someone breaking into our house at 2:30 in the morning, but turned out to be a 2.5 ft. Millennium Falcon crashing on the tile floor in Aidan's bedroom. Also unlucky for us, he rolled over on his Star Wars Legos and insisted I fix them the next morning since Daddy was gone to work. Too bad for Aidan, I am Lego directions challenged. Aidan is very creative and finally fixed it himself.

Aidan had a second birthday bash at Grandma and Grandpa Black's house. Mom and Aunt Kayann made him another cake, with M&M's on top. Many more cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents were there to wish him well and blow out birthday candles (everyone takes a turn practicing for their birthday.) Grandma and Grandpa Black gave him a baseball bat and 2 transformers. Uncle Adam, Ken, and Aunt Chelsi had fun changing the transformers to cars and back to robots, at Aidan's whim, the whole next day. (Just ask them.) Aidan was sure to make sure Luke knew his bat "Is NOT a weapon," but Aidan accidentally popped Ken in the chin with it (Ken wanted me to mention it is still sore. Awww poor guy. Having children can be dangerous.)
