Mother's Weekend

That's right, I didn't just get a Mother's Day, but a whole weekend. That is if you consider freezing your whatsit off on a mother/daughter camping trip some kind of honor. I enjoyed spending time with my girls camping, but the next weekend, when they had the father/son camp out and the girls and I painted our nails and watched movies was slightly more enjoyable.

We headed up to Wagon Train Lake Friday evening, accompanied by a frigid wind. We set up our tent. (Thanks to the help of some relief society sisters who are more competent at such things than myself.) We went for a walk around the lake. We cooked smores and sang songs. We listened to a spiritual message inspiring us to be better mothers from Sister Gist. We went on a night hike which ended in a trip to what some people supposedly consider restrooms. We bundled up in our sleeping bags and read a chapter or two of Johnny and the Bomb. We slept for and absurdly short amount of time. We woke, had a cold breakfast (in more ways than one), and packed up our car. We listened to Kadie repeatedly inquire if we could go now. We went home.

When we got home, Ken was in a whirlwind foul mood thanks to a nonfunctional water heater and an icy shower. (He didn't appreciate the women of the household smelling like campfire with no means of cleansing ourselves either.)

We hope the annual Holmes Lake Ward mother/daughter camp out is warmer next year!
*Don't we look lovely first thing in the morning!*
